Fundraising

GG PTA holds only 2 main fundraisers per school year, the Walk-a-thon and the Auction. With generous donations from Green Gables families, friends and local businesses, the PTA is able to provide numerous benefits to our students that the school's budget cannot afford to offer.

The PTA treasurer provides a report at the General Membership Meetings and our financial records are always open and available for anyone who would like to see how the PTA funds are raised and distributed.

The fall fundraiser is the Walk-a-thon. It will be held Friday, October 26th. The Walkathon historically has raised enough funds to avoid several “product fundraisers”. These product fundraisers require children going door-to-door selling items, which then our PTA would only receive a percentage of the profit. For safety reasons, we discourage children going door-to-door for any PTA fundraiser.

Students collect Walk-a-thon pledges, which are tax deductible, from family and friends. When they have collected $40 in pledges, students receive a cool Gecko T-shirt! Also, prizes are awarded to top pledge earners! The Walk-A-Thon is a fun time for each class to walk around the field, participating in different activities or stations such as hoola hoops, an obstacle course, and other fitness activities.

Many companies, such as Boeing, Microsoft, Washington Mutual and Weyerhauser, offer matching funds to their employees donations. If you would like more information, or a form to give to your employer, please stop by the PTA room. Please watch for more information about the Walk-a-thon in your child's go-homes from school.

It’s Auction time! Mark your calendars for Friday, February 29^th from 6 – 9 P.M. Green Gables PTA has planned a fun-filled evening to gather as a community and raise the much needed funds for the many PTA sponsored programs. Your PTA works hard each year to fund many educational enrichment programs such as our Science Room, the Art Room, field trips, assemblies, author programs and much more.

We have created this packet of information so that you can learn a bit about what we have planned this year, and ways you can help make this auction our best ever.

We need everyone to get involved. The Auction Committee alone cannot generate enough donations to meet our fundraising goal. You can help by asking your friends, family, neighbors and business associates what they may be able to donate. We are looking for all kinds of goods and services. Use your imagination and be creative. Some ideas include:

restaurant certificates	haircuts
electronics	themed baskets (games, outdoors, pet care, etc.)
gardening supplies or services	spa treatments
house painting	use of vacation rentals
window washing	manicures, pedicures
hand made items	vet/grooming services
donate personal time (babysitting, organizing, scrapbooking, etc.)

Another opportunity to help is through cash contributions. If you or someone you know owns or works for a business that can’t donate a good or service they might consider a making a tax deductible cash donation. You won’t know if you don’t ask!

The key to a successful event depends on everyone getting involved. Please do what you can to help make this fundraiser a smashing success to benefit all the students of Green Gables. Remember to invite your friends and family to attend. Everyone is welcome—the more the merrier!

Escrip is an easy process for raising funds. Last year, over $1,000 was raised simply by parents signing up for a Safeway card and enrolling in Escrip. Please complete the form and return it to the PTA room if you are interested in participating in this fundraising opportunity. There are several other merchants where you can also enroll to have GG PTA earn donations. You can access more information about this program at http://www.escrip.com/.

PTA is paid for every inkjet cartridge recycled. Drop off your empty ink cartridges in the box provided in the PTA room...
