Fundraising
GG PTA holds only 2 main fundraisers per
school year, the Walk-a-thon and the Auction. With
generous donations from Green Gables families, friends
and local businesses, the PTA is able to provide
numerous benefits to our students that the school's
budget cannot afford to offer.
The PTA treasurer provides a report at the General
Membership Meetings and our financial records are always
open and available for anyone who would like to see how
the PTA funds are raised and distributed.
Walk-a-thon
--
The fall fundraiser is the Walk-a-thon.
It will be held
Friday, October 8th, 2009. The Walkathon historically has raised
enough funds to avoid several “product fundraisers”.
These product fundraisers require children going
door-to-door selling items, which then our PTA would
only receive a percentage of the profit.
For safety reasons, we discourage children going
door-to-door for any PTA fundraiser.
Download the pledge sheet here.
Students collect Walk-a-thon pledges,
which are tax deductible, from family and friends.
When they have collected
$40 in pledges, students
receive their
choice of a cool Gecko water bottle,
string back-pack, or
Frisbee.
This year we have combined Walk-a-thon
with Read for the Record, which gives us a great
opportunity to set records!!
We’ll
set a school record!
This year’s Walkathon is our chance to set a
record for
“Most Miles Walked in a Single Day at Green
Gables”! Our
goal is 500 miles, do you think we can do more??
Spare a few minutes in the morning of October 8th
(9am-11:30am) to help us reach our goal!
We’ll set a world record!
Join us in helping the National PTA and the Jumpstart
Foundation to break the world record for “The World’s
Largest Shared Reading Experience”!
The goal this year is 1 million children and
adults reading The
Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle on October 8th.
Look for future information on how your family
can participate at home!
We’ll set a fundraising record!
Help make our Walkathon fundraiser the most profitable
ever! Our
PTA needs funds to continue to provide field trips, art
supplies, library books, and fun community activities
for Green Gables. Help our students have a great year by
giving generously to the Walkathon (donations due on or
before October 8th).
Many companies, such as Boeing,
Microsoft, Washington Mutual and Weyerhauser, offer matching funds to their employees
donations. If you would like more information, or
a form to give to your employer, please stop by the PTA
room. Please watch for more information about the
Walk-a-thon in your child's go-homes from school.
Auction
It’s Auction time! Mark your
calendars for
Friday, February 5th,
2010. Green Gables PTA has planned
a fun-filled evening to gather as a community and raise the
much needed funds for the many PTA sponsored programs.
Your PTA works hard each year to fund many educational
enrichment programs such as our Art Room, field trips,
assemblies, literacy programs and much
more.
